Shifting Images – Aspect change in artistic practice and teaching

In künstlerischer Praxis und Lehre, im Diskurs über Bedeutung und Interpretation von ‚Bildern’, spielt das kognitive Instrument ‚Aspektsehen’ eine zentrale Rolle. Das Forschungsprojekt ‚Bilder kippen’ führt diesen wichtigen Begriff in die künstlerische Arbeit und Reflexion ein und bündelt philosophische, wahrnehmungstheoretische und experimentelle Vorgehensweisen, um Aspektsehen als aktives diskursives Mittel in den Künsten zu etablieren. Relevante Wort-Bild–Interaktionen, praxisbezogene Experimente, Artikel und interdisziplinäre Kollaborationen werden anschliessend als Handbuch publiziert.

The cognitive instrument ‚aspect seeing’ plays a central role in artistic practice and education as well as in the discourse on meaning and interpretation of images. The research project ‚Shifting images’ introduces this important concept to artistic work and reflection and aims to connect processes from philosophy, theory of perception and practice-based experiments in order to establish aspect seeing as active discourse resource in the arts. Interactions between word and image, practice-based experiments, articles and interdisciplinary collaborations will be published as a manual later.
